What Are They & How Do They Work?
The root canal is the natural cavity lying within the centre of a tooth. Within it sits the pulp chamber and the nerve. It’s undertaken when tooth decay or infection has advanced and is the only option to fix or repair the tooth. During a root canal procedure, the nerve and pulp are removed and the inside of the tooth is cleaned and sealed. Without treatment, the tissue surrounding the tooth will become infected and abscesses may form.
Firstly, you’ll be given a local anaesthetic. Once that has fully taken effect, a small hole will be made enabling our dentists to assess the tooth and remove decay to prevent further damage from happening.
